Alberta Beach Municipal Library, located in the Village of Alberta Beach, is hiring for the position of Library Manager. The successful candidate will preferably have a Library Technician diploma or be in the process of achieving one. Comparable training or experience will be considered. Experience supervising staff is also required. Experience on a board, or working with a board, would be an asset. The Village of Alberta Beach Library Board is looking for a Library Manager who can engage the staff, the volunteers, and the community for the achievement of the goals established by the Board. The role includes supporting the board in carrying out its governance functions by providing accurate and timely information and raising new and emerging issues. The Library Manager will manage the library to meet the goals in the new Plan of Service by allocating and managing all resources, including human resources, financial resources, and space. The final function of this position is to develop and maintain positive relationships with the community and ensure that the library is positively perceived. The position requires organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize your own work. The Library Manager must be able to manage with minimal supervision in a flexible environment. Other competences needed are: • Excellent communications skills, supervision skills and the ability to work with a diverse group of people in a team environment. • Previous experience working with a board, or preparing budgets, is an asset. This is a part-time, permanent position at 31 hours per week, including evenings and Saturdays. Compensation begins at $25 per hour, plus participation in the Local Authorities Pension Plan.
